Jim Fassel’s two-time defending champion Las Vegas Locomotives took their first step towards
securing an unprecedented third-straight UFL crown with a 23-17 victory on the road over the
Sacramento Mountain Lions.
The Virginia Destroyers put together dominant performances on both sides of the ball to beat the
Las Vegas Locomotives 34-17 on Saturday night at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex.
A last-second 39-yard field goal earned the Omaha Nighthawks a dramatic 33-30 victory over the
Mountain Lions in Sacramento behind an impressive night from quarterback Jeremiah Masoli and the
visitors’ up-tempo offense.
Dominic Rhodes rushed for a record 217 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Virginia
Destroyers to a 28-6 victory over the Sacramento Mountain Lions before a crowd of 12,617 in United
Football League action at Virginia Beach Sportsplex.
The two-time defending UFL champion Las Vegas Locos rode the arm of Chase Clement and the leg of
Clint Stitser to a 30-10 victory over the Omaha Nighthawks before a crowd of 6,500 on Saturday night
at Sam Boyd Stadium.
Just eight days after losing 28-6 to the same opponent on the road in Virginia, Sacramento
scraped a miraculous 27-20 overtime victory, giving the Mountain Lions their first win of the season
and handing the Destroyers their first loss.
The Las Vegas Locos secured a firm grip on second place in the United Football League standings
with a narrow 13-6 victory over the Nighthawks despite being outplayed for much of the contest by
their hosts at TD Ameritrade Park.

Friday night, the
Sacramento Mountain Lions came from behind to defeat the Omaha Nighthawks in overtime, 25-19 in the
2011 UFL season finale for both teams.
The Virginia Destroyers beat the defending champion Las Vegas Locos 17-3 in the United Football
League championship game on Friday night, played before a standing-room only crowd of 14,172 at the
Sportsplex in Virginia Beach.
