Democrat staff reports -- Florida State's Maria Salinas played her best round of the NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championship as she carded a 79 in the third round and is in a tie for 121st place with one round remaining to be played and the Legends Course at Vanderbilt University in Franklin, Tenn.

Democrat assistant sports editor -- North Florida Christian leaned heavily on its 19 seniors last season en route to the Class 2A state championship in football. The group was unique because of its talent and size in numbers at the small-school classification.
The 2012 red snapper season opens June 1st, for 40 days (12 if you must work M-F). That doesn't give us a lot of time to catch what is arguably the best tasting reef fish in the world.
