Charlotte Durant has been selected as a volunteer teaching Maths and Science in Guyana with Project Trust. In order to take part in this, she needs to raise ВЈ5100 in sponsorship. To help towards this, our club and others will be holding a sponsored karate-thon, with each student, regardless of age, aiming to complete 1000 techniques in an hour. This will be taking place during normal training times on Wednesday 22nd and Thursday 23d February.

For those 1st Kyus and 1st Dans thinking of taking their 1st or 2nd Dan in November, Sensei Durant will be conducting training sessions on the last Thursday of every month this year, during the normal training at Cambridge Regional College. He will be able to answer questions about all aspects of the grading syllabus, and will be concentrating on training candidates to improve their kata and kumite. There will be no training at Kelsey Kerridge on Monday 3rd October, as the hall will be closed to enable the University Societies' Fair to take place. Training at other locations is unaffected, and we will resume as normal at Kelsey Kerridge the following week, 10th October.

There will no training on Easter Monday, 9th April, as Kelsey Kerridge Sports Hall will be closed for the Bank Holiday. Normal training resumes the following week.

The calendar for 2012 is now available from your senseis. Dates have been added to the Google Calendars for the SKA and the club, and the dates of the gradings have been added to the gradings page.
The major SKA dates for this year are:
13 May - Brown and Black Belt Kata Course
1 July - SKA Open Day
24 November - Black Belt Grading
All of those events take place at Southbury Leisure Centre, Enfield.

On Monday 6th February at Kelsey Kerridge Sensei Claire will conduct an extra hour's training for those who wish to attend - focus to be decided. The cost of hiring the hall will be split between those attending; this normally works out at around ВЈ3 per head.
