New Canaan is well-represented in Massachusetts today, as the 2012 Boston Marathon was held this morning.
The race featured approximately 22,500 runners this year, with more than 4,000 runners deferring their entries to next year. Race organizers offered a deferment due to today’s unseasonably hot temperatures.

With just one minute remaining in the first half of their FCIAC girls lacrosse quarterfinal against the Danbury Hatters on Friday, the top-seeded New Canaan Rams were in an unexpected position, trailing by a goal to the No. 8 team in the playoffs.
Danbury was playing with vigor, refusing to bend against the State’s top-ranked team.
Then New Canaan’s high-powered offense kicked into gear, the defense went into shutdown mode and the Rams were on their way.

Back in the spring of 2008, New Canaan boys track and field coach Steve Bedard was faced with a teachable moment when he was at the CIAC decathlon with Rams’ senior Kyle Rohrs.
