When running late and battling a setting sun, Jerrod and Eric needed to call in a coyote quickly in order to be able to film the hunt with enough shooting light. It was the perfect circumstances to call in our fastest coyote of all time. Fifty seconds into calling and before the first set of rabbit squeals was even complete- this coyote came tearing in from the thick brush and into the open hardwoods where DWO sat waiting. While hanging a treestand for deer season, and scouting for sign- we took special note of this location as a potential coyote setup to re-visit later in the winter. It matched a lot of the criteria we look for in a successful stand. The open hardwoods sit adjacent to a very thick orchard above a large brush lot. The slant of the hill, gives the hunters a nice elevated sitting point to easily view the surrounding area. Finally, the property allows us to walk in from the DownWind side and avoid walking through anything that could potentially hold (and thereby spook away) coyotes. The new coyote spot paid off on its first prime-time attempt in record fashion, luckily for Jerrod who had to "Make It Quick."
